Coded Welders Wanted – Long-Term Projects in Tyne & Wear (2026 Opportunities)

Are you a skilled Coded Welder looking for your next assignment in 2026?

IRS Recruitment is proud to be supporting our client with immediate vacancies for experienced Coded Welders to join long-term heavy fabrication projects in the Tyne & Wear area.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on major structural steel projects with the potential for permanent roles for the right candidates.

The Role

You will be working on heavy steel fabrications and structural components within a busy production environment.

To be successful in this role, you should have:


  • Experience working on heavy steel fabrications and structures


  • Coded welding approval by Lloyd’s or other recognised authorities


  • Certification in 6GR / 6G positions


  • Experience with MIG Flux Core / Metal Core procedures


  • Relevant welding standards such as ISO 9606 / EN287

Welders with recently stamped qualifications (within the last 6 months) are preferred, but this is not essential, as weld test opportunities are available.

Shift Patterns

Two shift patterns are available (please state your preference when applying):

Weekday Dayshift


  • Monday – Friday


  • 42 hours per week

Weekday Backshift


  • Monday – Friday


  • 42 hours per week

Overtime opportunities may also be available.

Enhanced pay rates may apply subject to completion of a Multi-Functional Training form where required.

Pay Rates

PAYE Dayshift


  • £21.50 – £23.50 per hour – First 38 hours


  • £27.95 – £30.55 per hour – Over 38 hours


  • £32.25 – £35.25 per hour – Saturday


  • £43.00 – £47.00 per hour – Sunday & Bank Holidays

PAYE Backshift


  • £23.81 – £26.02 per hour – First 38 hours


  • £30.95 – £33.83 per hour – Over 38 hours


  • £35.72 – £39.03 per hour – Saturday


  • £47.62 – £52.04 per hour – Sunday & Bank Holidays
