Welders – Secure Your Next Long-Term Assignment for 2026 NOW

Are you a Coded Welder looking to lock in your next role for 2026? Immediate starts are available.

IRS Recruitment is working in partnership with a major client delivering long-term heavy engineering projects across the Tyne & Wear / North East region. Due to increased workload, we are recruiting experienced Coded Welders now, with strong potential for permanent employment for the right candidates.

The Role

You will be working on heavy steel fabrications and structural assemblies on established projects with long-term visibility.

Essential / Desired Experience


  • Proven experience in heavy steel fabrications and structures


  • Approved by Lloyd’s or other recognised authorities


  • Coding in 6GR / 6G


  • Qualified in MIG Flux Core / Metal Core welding procedures


  • Certifications to ISO 9606 / EN287

Welders with current qualifications and stamps within the last six months are highly desirable; however, this is not essential.

Weld test opportunities are available for suitable candidates.

Shift Patterns Available (42 hours per week)

Please state your preference on application (subject to availability):


  • Weekday Dayshift – Monday to Friday


  • Weekday Backshift – Monday to Friday

Overtime may be available.

Enhanced pay rates apply where Multi-Functional Training is completed (where required).

Pay Rates

PAYE – Dayshift


  • £21.50 – £23.50 per hour (first 38 hours)


  • £27.95 – £30.55 per hour (hours over 38)


  • £32.25 – £35.25 per hour (Saturday)


  • £43.00 – £47.00 per hour (Sunday & Bank Holidays)

PAYE – Backshift


  • £23.81 – £26.02 per hour (first 38 hours)


  • £30.95 – £33.83 per hour (hours over 38)


  • £35.72 – £39.03 per hour (Saturday)


  • £47.62 – £52.04 per hour (Sunday & Bank Holidays)
