This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive Materials Planner to manage the flow of materials within a successful chemical manufacturing Company, with over 50 years of chemical manufacturing heritage and an established reputation for excellence. Our client is focused on providing the best contract manufacturing and site services to customers in the agrochemical, fine and specialty chemical industries. Based in Norwich, Norfolk, our client is a leading large scale chemical company delivering customer needs utilising its broad asset and technology base, underpinned by its quality driven project management.
The appointee will be responsible for inventory optimisation through increasing stock turns and a reduction in redundant stocks, customer supply performance via QOTIF (Quantity On-Time and In-Full) and the evaluation of planning performance through managing shortages and resource utilisation, ensuring the success of the Upper Tier COMAH site.
* Managing the short to medium term production plan of a portfolio of products in order to achieve the optimum balance between market requirements, customer service, production resources, material availability and inventory levels.
* Processing orders to ensure products are produced to meet customer requirements and raw and packaging materials are available for production.
* Manage and analyse customer demand data and reschedule production and material flows accordingly in order to maintain optimum plan, ensuring all relevant parties are kept abreast of changes. Ensure third party demand data is accurately maintained.
* Direct and control the timely delivery of materials to meet the needs of the manufacturing units by interpretation of data and close liaison with internal customers and external suppliers. Ensure that all materials are delivered fit for purpose and all aspects of operational purchasing are accurately maintained and actioned in accordance with the quality procedures.
Your Qualifications / Experience:
Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level or alternatively possess very good 'A' levels, (preferably including chemistry) or have relevant experience in a planning environment.
To be successful in this role you must have good analytical, reasoning and numeracy skills. In addition, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required as the jobholder has a wide network of internal and external customers.
The role requires knowledge of logistics systems, MRP principles, company products, processes and quality systems.
Further, this role requires an organised proactive individual who is able to prioritise effectively and make decisions in a complex environment. You must be able to demonstrate customer focus and have the ability to work effectively without supervision as well as the willingness to be a strong contributor in a small team.
